Calcite with Malachite and AzuriteOne of the best crystallized Calcites that I have seen from the Copper Rivet Mine, located several miles north of the Cashin Mine, along Slat Creek, west of Highway 141. This lesser known locality apparently produced some specimens in the late 1990s when a few enterprising individuals were able to liberate pieces in their free time. I havent seen many Copper Rivet specimens on the market, and they typically arent much to look at, but this piece hosts

blue-green color “butterfly”-twinned crystals with tan Siderite and dark reddish-brown Sphalerite

A worthwhile Wavellite

sharpness and luster is coated by spherical aggregates of pale golden Marcasite and minor grey Arsenopyrite

The crystals are associated with tan/pink botryoidal Siderite and are sitting on matrix

but it’s definitely different than typical pieces from Viloco

This specimen was mined in the late 1970’s / early 1980’s

There are also some small gem Quartz crystals on most of the specimens found as well

The terminations on the above specimen are very sharp and lustrous

the crystals are associated with micro grey Quartz
